2010 GLOBAL MAYORS FORUM STEERING COMMITTEE
THE LAUNCH OF WEBINAR SERIALS NEWS RELEASE

Just a few years ago, few human beings realized the damage caused by their carbon footprint. It was under the stimulation of economic development, earning growth and rapid urbanization, the usage and depletion of energy has reached an unprecedented scale. In pace with the increasingly fierce subprime mortgage crisis at the end of 2007, cities all over the world were facing a crucial moment of urban sustainable development. The 2010 Global Mayors Forum(GMF) Steering Committee, whose principle is “cross cultural communication of concurrent development”, has actively initiated and pushed forward new forms of low-carbon, energy-saving, high-efficient as well as high-green conferences. In addition to initial plan from November 5th to 8th in Hong kong, the global serial webinar including 1000-Guest Plenary Session, Parallel Forum, High-end Dialogues, Round Table sessions and urban promotion presentation conferences will be held as well at multiple time slots from June to December 2010 in multiple locations such as Shanghai World Expo Site, Beijing, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and some other cities.

The Chairman of 2010 Global Mayors Forum Steering Committee, Mr. Shiying Hu advocated: “The theme of the 2010 Global Mayors Forum is ‘High Growth Cities: Meeting the Challenges for Sustainability’. As a high-end platform to promote eco-development between cities, the GMF Steering Committee is determined to fulfill the new agreement which was reached in the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit by global leaders regarding emission reduction at the end of 2009. We hope more global city leaders and city stakeholders can exchange experiences and insights so as to agree on a bright direction toward urban sustainable development by reduction of long journeys with such a new form of conferences.”

The 2010 Global Mayors Forum will host the following events from June to December 2010:

• 2010 Global Mayors Forum – 1000-Guest Plenary Session Video Conferences (Shanghai World Expo Site, Beijing)
• 2010 Global Mayors Forum – Parallel Forums and High-end Dialogue (Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen)
